Input an email. WebGo to your DiskStation menu button and open control panel then choose QuickConnect. Place a tick besides “Enable QuickConnect”. Log in or register a new Synology account, and once you do, give your DiskStation a name in the Quick Connect ID section. NOTE: If the name has been taken you will see an alert down the bottom.

I use DSM to update my DDNS and when VPN enabled the IP published is that of VPN not the ISP IP. In the end the only way I could resolve this was to disable DDNS update on DSM and resort to my ISP router doing this.
